The Queensland Economics Teachers' Association

QETA Inc. is a body of teachers and other educators throughout Queensland, Australia, committed to the promotion and advancement of Economics and Business Education in schools.

To achieve this goal, the association organises and resources a range of activities, aimed at enhancing the professional qualities of teachers.

QETA Inc. was established in 1969. It is a non-profit  that is operated by volunteers.

Mission Statement and Goals

The Mission of Queensland Economics Teachers Association is to advance the teaching of Economics in Queensland schools and to represent the interests of members.

The goals of QETA are as follows.

  • Support and promote Economics education in schools.
  • Sponsor and support activities, such as student competitions, student seminar days, professional development activities for teachers.
  • Liaise with commercial and government organisations in relation to the development and provision of suitable teaching and learning resources.
  • Contribute to curriculum development in Economics in Years 11 and 12, and Economics and Business Education in Years 5-10.
  • Advocate on behalf of Economics educators.
  • Promote the public recognition of the role of Economics.
  • Provide input into educational reviews through submissions.
  • Liaise with other organisations that may assist QETA in achieving these goals.

Constitution

The constitution was last updated on 29th November 2021 when it was lodged with the Office of Fair Trading.
