2023 Enrich thinking, with Economics - 15 July, 2023

This conference focused on the enrichment of thinking skills, through the student of Economics. Our Key note speaker is one of the leading Economists in Australia today. Our Guest speaker also has an amazing depth of Economic experience nationally and internationally. Both bring real-world knowledge to support you as teachers of Economics.

2022 Economics Unplugged

Economics 2022 Unplugged was held Saturday 26 November, with around 50 teachers joining together to network and learn from the range of speakers and workshops. Find out more here, including PowerPoints presented. Link to 2022 conference Link to 2022 conference


The 2021 half-day Conference was held at Brisbane Girls Grammar School. Dr Matthew Peter, Chief Economist at QIC provided an excellent presentation on the Australian economy, with a Queensland perspective. Two very experienced teachers, Majda Benzenati and Mathew Stein presented a workshop on Teaching, learning and assessment for Summative Internal Instrument 3. They then coordinated a feedback session on the Economics syllabus in response to QCAA syllabus review feedback processes.


The 2020 full day conference was not held, due to COVID.


The 2019 event was a half-day Professional Development Morning held on 27th July 2019 at Brisbane Girls Grammar School. Key note speaker was Corrie Feldman, Economist at the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority Link


The 2018 Conference was held at Brisbane Girls Grammar School on Saturday 10th March 2018. The Conference focused on the 2019 Economics Syllabus to be introduced into schools in 2019 with Year 11 students. There were 2 keynote addresses, a major workshop session and then two optional workshop sessions.


The major QETA Professional Development for 2017 was a PD Morning held on 20th May 2017. 


The 2016 QETA Conference was held on Saturday 21st May 2016 at Brisbane Girls Grammar School from 8.30am to 4pm.

The Conference focussed on the development of the Year 11/12 Syllabus in 2016 and teachers had the opportunity to give feedback as part of the QETA submission relating to this. There were workshop sessions on the Australian Curriculum: Economics and Business Years 7-10, as well as two keynote presentations.

There were two sessions of workshops, each with 3 options.
